My friend, Jill, and her 5 yr. old son, Lucas, from Germany came to visit us for their Spring break. We had and still are having a great time. She planned on staying for 6 days but has been here for almost 2 weeks now because of the volcano in Iceland. All the airports in Europe are still closed! She will leave on the April 26th. Isn't that crazy. We have had movie night every night after the kids go to bed and, of course, we throw some wine in there too.
Their first week here we did A LOT! It wouldn't seem much to someone without kids, but put 3 kids into the mix, everything is slowed way down. We got my nanny a lot also the first week so we could go enjoy ourselves on our outtings but this week is more for the kids. Jill and I were able to get a scrub at a "Jjimjillbang" a Korean bath house. We were scrubbed head to foot and then had an aroma therapy massage. Before and afterwards we hung out in the whirlpools and saunas. It was definitely an experience. The European that Jill is had no problem with it, but I, on the other hand, was a bit uncomfortable. But, I did it and glad I did.
We went to the Seoul Tower and took a cable car up the mountain to the tower. It was a beautiful day with a pretty good view through the "yellow sand" and Seoul pollution. Afterwards we took the kids for Korean BBQ and Cold Stone Creamery.
We had wonderful pedicures and manicures from the Korean ladies on post. They do the best pedicure I have ever had and are sooooo cheap. Bryan even gets a pedicure with me now. They are awesome!
We have been out to dinners and lunches almost everyday, eating Korean, Korean bbq, Indian, Mexican, Thai, American (The Outback, if you can believe that one), and indulged in the bars a bit. Jill and I even hit the "noriban", which is Korean karaoke where you have your own private room to sing your heart out!!
We went to Donggdaemun Market for shopping, mostly for the kids, and the streets of Itaewon. We have been bar hopping fools. Oh to be young again. Yeah right!
